DEVOTION
Reigning in life through Jesus Christ Pt 2
In Romans 5:17, the scripture says that there are two divine factors for reigning in life. They are abundance of GRACE and the gift of RIGHTEOUSNESS.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
It is the ability to stand in the presence of God without guilt, condemnation, fear or inferiority. It is our right standing with God. The blood of Jesus gives us a right standing with God always. This means we are restored to the level of fellowship the first Adam had before the fall and even richer at the level of the second and last Adam because as He is (the resurrected LORD) so are we in this world - 1 John 4:17. It is the state of him who is as he ought to be.
2 Corinthians 5:21 states God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. So the new creation is the righteousness of God in Christ. In order to live right we must be made righteous. This is God's investment in us to think, talk and act right. Righteousness is the rightness of thinking, feeling and acting. 1 John 2:29 says "if you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practises righteousness is born of Him and again in 1 John 3:7 we are told little children, let no one deceive you, he who practises righteousness is righteous.
Sin defiles us as believers in Christ so if we sin, we should engage the ministry of Jesus as our Advocate immediately. The scripture says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9, 2:1,2. Remember, the wages of sin is death, not was death, which means practising or living in sin will surely produce death. Roman 6:23, James 1:13-15. Therefore, walk in the light of His revealed WORD to you.
Righteousness is forceful. It makes you a commander in life. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person makes tremendous power available dynamic in its working. The work of righteousness will be peace and the effect of righteousness; quietness and assurance forever , Isaiah 32:17.
Become established in grace and righteousness, and start reigning in life as a king.
